WASHTENAW DAIRY &THE COMMUNITY
Washtenaw Dairy donates $1,000 to M Cancer Center On Tuesday, July 12, Washtenaw Dairy donated $1,000 to the University of Michigan Cancer Center. The contribution was made in the memory of Jim Raab III. The money was raised during the 31st annual Washtenaw Dairy Milk Can Open held at Pierce Lake Golf Course in Chelsea, MI. Pictured (from left to right) are Jason Keech (U of M), Kevin Kelly (captain, tournament championship team), Jeff Peck (WD), Doug Raab (WD).
Washtenaw Dairy donates and supports many community endeavors, projects, not-for-profits, schools, and services organizations.
We are a corporate sponsor every year for the Ufer Quarterback Club annual event (http://www.ufer.org/scholarships.html ). Washtenaw Dairy donuts and coffee is always present before the golfers tee it up for the tournament start.
This year Washtenaw Dairy jumped right in to support a new large event in town, the Volic LPGA at Travis Point Memorial Day weekend (http://volviklpga.com)
Every week the Dairy donates dozens of donuts to the Ann Arbor. Downtown Kiwanis Club (http://a2kiwanisfoundation.org) to help keep their members and other volunteers energized to do their good works. Our especially strong connection to this service club is due to the joint proximity to downtown Ann Arbor and also the personal relationships between the owner of Washtenaw Dairy and members of this club have held for generations!
For the past 30 years, Washtenaw Dairy has hosted The Washtenaw Dairy Milk Can Open.
Started by James Smith II, this years outing was held in memory of his son James Smith III who passed away in January 2016. Both the Father and son were co-owners of Washtenaw Dairy, each for many years, with Doug Raab a cancer survivor himself. Through this event, the Dairy is making a significant cash donation to the U of M Cancer Center.
We cherish every thank you note and acknowledgment as a part of WD's rich and long history. Doing good work inspires us to have a strong business, allowing us to continue assisting others!

• WD is Sponsoring its Second Blood Drive •
On Saturday, June 24, from 9 AM to 3 PM, Washtenaw Dairy is sponsoring its second blood drive at the Bethlehem Church on 4th Avenue in Ann Arbor. More details regarding signing up to follow.
ANN ARBOR, February 13, 2017 -- The Washtenaw Dairy sponsored an American Red Cross blood drive on Saturday January 28th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bethlehem Church in Ann Arbor. The blood drive was in loving memory of two late owners, Jim Smith and Doug Raab, both of whom passed away in 2016 after long battles with cancer. 34 community members of all ages participated, and 25 pints of blood were collected.
Co-owner Jim Smith III, 63, passed away on January 26, 2016 of cancer. His death did not long precede the death of his business partner, co-owner Doug Raab, 90, on November 4, 2016. Raab had recently been diagnosed with Leukemia, his fourth cancer battle. Their longtime participation in the community paved the way for the Washtenaw Dairy to continue sponsoring community organizations and events, including the blood drive.
Mary Raab, company president and niece of late owner Doug Raab, spoke of Washtenaw Dairy’s personal motivations in sponsoring a blood drive. “Both Doug and Jimmy were needing blood infusions towards the end of their lives. The blood kept them going, and we could see how important it was in the business. It was not just life saving, but life enriching. We have wanted to sponsor a blood drive since July because we thought it would be nice to make up for what they’d used. So this blood drive was a long time in the works. It is something we have been passionate about and we didn’t lose energy between July and now. It became even more relevant when Doug died in November.”
“Giving blood only takes 15 minutes, and it is a great way for anyone to go out and make a real difference,” said donor and shift manager at Washtenaw Dairy, Makai McClintock. “On top of that, the community gives so much to the dairy, it’s nice for the dairy to be able to give back to the community.”
According to Raab, Kerry Hu, Washtenaw Dairy’s marketing intern, was the mastermind behind the blood drive. “We mostly used Washtenaw Dairy's digital media pages to advertise the drive. The blood drive catered to and attracted college students at U of M, as well as local faithful Washtenaw Dairy customers that are permanent residents of Ann Arbor. We had some Facebook posts, one of which reached over 6,000 Ann Arbor locals, in order to get the word out. We got a lot of positive responses, especially since we were giving out donuts at the drive to help people recover from donation and reward them for coming out and doing a good deed,” said Hu of Washtenaw Dairy’s outreach and advertisement of the blood drive.
Julie Seagraves, Development Director at the Emerson School in Ann Arbor, referred to the blood drive as just one event in a long relationship between the Washtenaw Dairy and Emerson school. “For years, our students have looked forward to our annual Ice Cream Social with treats from Washtenaw Dairy. On the first day of school this year, we invited parents to enjoy Washtenaw Dairy donuts and coffee after dropping off their children.” Her experience was a testament to Washtenaw Dairy’s long history in the Ann Arbor community. “My favorite part about the Washtenaw Dairy Blood Drive, besides the donuts, was knowing I was giving in memory of two gentleman who were part of the Ann Arbor community for so long and helped make it special.”
“We consider the drive a huge success and we have the community support and are working with the Red Cross to schedule a second drive, hopefully within the next few months,” said Raab of Washtenaw Dairy’s future plans for community outreach.

If you're interested in learning more about how we can help your business stay stocked up, call us at (734) 662-3244 or send us a message!
There is a minimum purchase of 1 dozen donuts for delivery, and the donuts cost $9 a dozen ($4.50 for a half-dozen or 75¢ each thereafter), plus a $2 delivery charge.
We wouldn't be much of a dairy if we didn't offer dairy products, which is why we are pleased to distribute Prairie Farms dairy products. Prairie Farms is a Farmers-Owned Co-Operative Dairy, and has converted the entire milking heard to Non-Growth Hormone. That means we get to offer quality dairy products without any of that weird, harmful, and frankly hard to pronounce stuff.
Did you know that the U.S. has a massive surplus of cheese? Neither do a lot of people, but now that you do know, you can help us cut into that surplus! There's no better time to buy cheese than right now, and no better place to get it than Washtenaw Dairy! Buy it by the slice, by the block, shredded, or if you're feeling extra adventurous, buy it by the wheel!
Don't worry, your eyes are still not playing tricks on you. Washtenaw Dairy also carries wine.
Washtenaw Dairy is one of the few locations in Southeast Michigan where dry ice is readily available. Dry ice is great for keeping things frozen or cooled, but more importantly for special effects. Need to make a dramatic entrance to a party? We have a great recipe for mixing dry ice and water that's sure to turn some heads.
Now, dry ice is fun and exciting, but Michigan Law does require that you be 18 years or older to purchase it. We also caution those purchasing to avoid skin contact with the dry ice. This is frozen Carbon Dioxide, which is sitting somewhere around −109.3 °F. That is roughly three and a half times colder than regular ice. You will get frostburned by touching it.
Little known fact: we are a distributer for Kikkoman Foods. You may know them as "that soy sauce company," but that's not all they make, and Washtenaw Dairy carries top of the line, all natural and organic soy products including delicious Pearl Soy Milk. Please visit their website for the full line of products from Kikkoman Foods, and then give us a call at 734-662-3244 for information on how to order and pricing.

ICE CREAM FLAVORS
Our Many Ice Cream Flavors
And now the moment you've all been waiting for, the big list of ice cream flavors!
NOTE: We do not regularly stock every flavor on this list. Please call us to check current availability and to place an order for any flavor that we are not currently carrying.
Our scooped ice cream, some of which is packaged as gluten free, may contain stray gluten due to our scoopers scooping many, many ice cream orders (gluten free and full of gluten) in a rapid fashion. So, if it is critical that your diet is gluten free - and you know who you are - please refrain from trying the scooped ice cream. Please partake in our packaged ice cream products that guarantee their sans gluten purity. And, while we’re at it, anyone who has a peanut or tree nut allergy should follow this same advice. Thank you for your understanding.
